How To Have Fun Without Money

Tapcheck Team   November 04, 2021

Entertainment costs can add up. Going to the movies can easily cost $20 or more per person, especially when you add popcorn and a soda. Dining out can get pricey too. From the cost of your meal and a dessert or appetizer, plus a beverage and the tip, you can find yourself spending $30 before you know it. If you are trying to save money, reducing your entertainment and activities budget is a great place to start. And just because you cut down on your budget doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. There are plenty of things to do – here’s how to have fun without money!

The first step in finding fun things to do with no money is to think out of the box. Many of us have found ourselves scratching our heads and trying to come up with fun activities that we can do safely, especially during this pandemic. Fortunately, fun-filled options aren’t as far away as they may seem.

Participate in a Photo Scavenger Hunt and Share Your Photos on Social Media

Time spent on social media is up more than ever. So, make that time count. Grab your smartphone and head out for an afternoon on the town. Take photos of unique things you see along the way. For November, look for orange and brown things and take as many pictures as you can. For December, look for red or green items to photograph (or the color of your observed holiday). Then, create a photo collage on Facebook or share your photos on Instagram. Your friends will enjoy your creativity. Best of all? It’s a great thing to do without money!

Get Out for a Hike

Are you looking to add some physical activity to your life? Why not go for a hike (or combine your photo scavenger hunt with a walk along a nature trail)? Hiking is an excellent form of exercise and a fun thing to do without money. It’s also a great way to get outside and enjoy nature. Winter hikes can be breathtaking, especially if you live in the north and are likely to experience snow.

Soak Up the Rays and Savor a Picnic Lunch

Picnics are fun, low-cost activities that allow you to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and savor a meal, either alone or with loved ones. If you’re feeling adventurous, combine your hike and photo scavenger hunt with your picnic, and make a day of it. If it is sunny outside, your body will appreciate the boost of Vitamin D and calcium that the sun provides.

Think Outside of the Box – Fun Activities are All Around Us

The fact is, there are fun things to do with no money all around us. We simply get bogged down with life sometimes and miss what is right in front of our noses. Whether you attend a no-cost museum or zoo day, take a walking tour of your city or a nearby historical site, visit a farmer’s market, or even check out a new book from the library, there are countless things to do without money. And sometimes, coming up with a new activity is half the fun!
