What is Job Enrichment?
Job enrichment is the idea of adding dimensions to an existing job to make it more inspiring and motivating for employees. The concept of job enrichment came from the assembly line approach in manufacturing that was developed in the early 20th century. While these jobs were stable and provided a reliable income for many, they were also very boring, with each worker performing the same repetitive task all day, every day.
